Sunflower Seeds Coming Home

Event Date: Sun May 01 2011

Hi there,

I would like to organise a flashmob in Tate Modern on the 1st of May.

That’s what it is about:

Tate Modern holds the Ai Weiwei Sunflower Seeds exhibition that will take place until the 2nd of May. When the exhibition was open to the public, many of the hand crafted porcelain sunflower seeds were stolen. As a consequence of that and because of the dust that was said to be a health risk, it was closed for the public.

What will the flashmob be like?

The idea is to give the stolen seeds back to the exhibition, before it closes. So anyone who is the holder of an original sunflower seed of Ai Weiwei’s exhibition, is invited to lay it down on the bridge in Tate Modern from which the exhibition can be watched at 5 pm on the 1st of Mai. Since this is a flashmob and Tate Modern doesn’t know of that plan, please do not randomly throw the seeds back into the exhibition.

It shall be a symbolic act in appreciation of Modern Art and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun, too.

See you on the 1st of May! Have fun!
